Project - McArthurs Store
Description:
The B-listed McArthurs Stores, adjacent to the Cromwell Harbour has been used by local fishermen for as long as anyone can remember as a place to repair nets and pots. Dating from the early 18th century, it was originally known as Spott's Granary. It is believed to be the oldest warehouse in continual use in Scotland, and as such, is of national importance.
The Dunbar Harbour Trust has established the McArthurs Stores Building Preservation Trust to take forward a programme of essential repairs to the building. To safeguard this important feature of the harbour area, the project will aim to create improved facilities for its users, the fishermen, and also to create an office for the Dunbar Harbour Trust. The restoration of this building may also provide the potential to create new business opportunities, contributing further to the economic prosperity of the area.
