Extract from the minutes of a special meeting of the DHT held March 20.

Only one Item on the agenda:

This meeting was called at the request of Brian Cleator in order to discuss to first stage of his Harbour Development Plan.

Brian introduced this plan after discussion with the RNLI regarding development of the harbour to allow the All Weather Lifeboat to return to the harbour. This would have to proceed on the basis of creating a ‘port of refuge’. This needs to proceed with some haste as the next tranche of money from the European Fisheries Fund will become available in the Autumn and we need to have a design and a project ready to take forward and apply for funding.

The first stage is a bathometric and sediment survey all round the harbour and an associate of Brian’s has agreed to do carry out this survey at a much reduces costs as Brian will offer his services to assist at no cost. This will cost DHT £8k plus VAT and can be paid over two months. If we carry out this work at our cost we will take the results to the RNLI and look for their commitment to the next stage of wave modelling which will result in giving us the size and location for a breakwater. The spend was agreed.

Date of Next Meeting
