On a lovely sunny day a party of four Americans visitors from Norfolk Virginia whose name is Dunbar were given a tour of the Battery, the Maggie, and the Castle led by Gordon Easingwood, Chairman of Dunbar History Society and accompanied by three DHT trustees . As a thank you they kindly donated £50 to the Harbour Trust

The judges visited a windswept Battery on 5th March where they met members of the Trust and community who were involved in the project. The feedback from them, and others involved throughout the project, was well received and gave the judges a better understanding of the variety of community interest in the Dunbar Battery. They noted that despite the weather, the quality of the project shone through. This resulted in the Dunbar Battery winning a Commendation at the Scottish Civic Trust My Places Award on 20th March 2018. Congratulations and our thanks to all involved.

Bad weather and poor rescheduling to clash with Mother's Day meant only 4 volunteer Friends of Dunbar Battery gave the Dunbar Battery a buff and polish to ensure it was ready for the summer ahead. Despite the weather of early March, the Battery was in good shape with only minor litter picking required. Rock Armour Placement, Dunbar East Beach - Marine Licence Number 06533/17/0

A requirement of the Marine Licence for the above works is to issue a Local Notice to Mariners.

A copy of the Licence to meet this requirement can be found here.

The placement of the rock armour adjacent to the sewer pipe will commence next week and as it is tide dependant, it is likely to continue into May.

Once again the moorings at Dunbar have proved popular this year with some new boats arriving in the harbour. There are still a few moorings available in the harbours this year. A date for your diary.

Much work is being carried out on boats prior to their launch next month for the summer season now that “Spring is in the Air”. Dunbar Sailing Club  annual craning in  will be on  April 6th

Alistair will be retiring from the Trust at the end of March with over six years valuable service. He has been legal adviser to the Board during his time, and in recent years has played a very active role as Chair of the Dunbar Harbour Management Committee. We feel sure that all at the harbour will wish to express their gratitude for Alistair’s considerable contributions to the management of the harbour.

Following an inspection of Victoria Harbour mooring chains some evidence of deterioration was found on 4 short lengths of cross chains. The moorings committee is organising a team to replace these on the low tide of the 3rd/4th March
