Callum Thomson’s creels are impressively  lined up. There’s 240 creels in this photo. Callum transported them from Aberdeen, in total he has 600 --- not bad for a one-man operation.

In the industry the trend generally nowadays is to buy pre-made creels, with metal wire inside plastic tubing. Some of you will remember traditional creels made from willow withies on wooden bases.

Callum’s boat, ‘Boy Owen’, is currently on the hard in Cromwell being fitted with her new engine and a new cabin, for a planned relaunch around Easter and then putting out the creels after the big winter swells have ended.
