Rodney Thomas

Rodney Thomas  - Vice Chair of the Board

Rodney has been a member of the Trust for longer than he can remember but at least since 2004, so his wife Kate tells him. He is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, Secretary of the Harbour Management Committee and a member of two other sub-committees of the Trust. He has been responsible for several small projects such as the recent installation of the powered davit and the re-furbishment of the Harbourmaster’s office and is at present project leader for the proposed Amenity Building.

A resident of Dunbar for seventeen years Rodney’s interests are diverse and include reading, photography, gardening, walking the dogs and cruising the inland waterways on the narrowboat in which he and Kate own a share, he doesn’t have any spare time.

Barry Fisher - Director

Barry is the Director for Youth Charity - The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, previously he was Chief Executive for Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.  

A keen offshore sailor Barry is a Yachtmaster Instructor and has over 20 years experience of working with young people in a Sail Training environment

Steven Anderson - Director

Steven has been a member of the Board since 2009. As a qualified architect Steven is actively involved in the future improvement of the built environment in the harbour. He is also Director of Developments for Dunbar Harbour Developments Ltd.
A local resident, self confessed land lover and father of 3, Steven has a keen interest in sport which is a good fit with his current job as Project Manager with sportscotland.
Steven would be interested in hearing your thoughts on future projects in the harbour.

Alistair Mackie

Alstair Mackie - Director

As a harbour user, previously through sailing and now as a member of Dunbar Sailing Club Alistair has an interest in the way that the harbour is run. 

As a resident in the town he has a further interest in continuance of and development of the harbour which is a key resource of the town for  the harbour not only provides a source of income to local fishermen but also acts as a focal point for tourists and residents alike. 

As a solicitor Alistair hopes to give his free time to preserve and develop the harbour’s infrastructure on which these interest groups depend.

Tom Craig

Tom Craig - Director

Tom Craig has been a member of the Board since 2009, and has been Chairman of the Dunbar Harbour Management Committee since 2011.

He is a Chartered Structural Engineer to trade, and tries to put this knowledge to good use around the harbour. He is a native of Aberdeen, has been living in Dunbar since 1995, and is married, with two children, and four grandchildren. He is keen to hear of any problems people may have with the harbour so that they may be discussed, and rectified if possible, by DHMC.

Thelma Band

Thelma Band - Director

Thelma is a native of East Lothian and has lived close to Dunbar for the past 25 years. Retiring seven years ago has allowed me to spend more time on my hobby of sailing. She has sailed most of the east coast of the UK from Shetland to Norfolk as well as across the North Sea to Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Poland in their 11m sailboat. Thelma has been a member of Dunbar Sailing Club for over 20 years and served as Commodore for four years and is now back ‘at the helm’ for the second time.

She has a keen interest in Dunbar Harbour and was Minute Secretary to the Harbour Trust for eight years before joining the Board of Dunbar Harbour Trust in December 2011 and looks forward to contributing to the success of the Harbour going forward. She is also on the committee of a local fundraising branch for the RNLI and a member of the Rotary Club of Dunbar.

Robin Hamilton
Robin Hamilton - Director

Robin Hamilton a retired civil engineer has been on the Dunbar Harbour Trust for 3 years and has lived in Dunbar for nearly 4 years. Before retiring he worked as a Director with East of Scotland Water and has had 25 years working in the water industry. He is married with 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren

Interests include curling, golf , walking, Rotary and caravanning.

Alisdair Swan
Alasdair Swan - Director
 
Alasdair is a Chartered Accountant now retired from the Logistics Industry.
 
He is married with four children and five grandchildren.
 
His interests include the management of the Dunbar East Beach Seaside award, the regeneration of the Shore and Harbour neighbourhood area and golf at Dunbar.
Brian Cleator
Brian Cleator - Director

Brian has been a Trustee of the Dunbar Harbour since 2007 and has been primarily involved in the long term development of the harbour infrastructure. 

Brian lives in Dunbar and has his own company which specialises in providing advice on health, safety and environmental management for ports, harbours and other marine engineering and energy developments. Currently he works extensively overseas for the oil and gas industry. 

He is a specialist in the development of coastal infrastructure projects and has worked extensively with local communities in Africa, Arabia and Asia.  Originally a marine ecologist Brian is a professionally qualified diver and has been on the Dunbar lifeboat crew for over 10 years, seven of which he has spent as a deputy second coxswain.
